The holidays have come, and are now going. This was my first year celebrating the Chinese New Year since coming to China, or ever for that matter. The first year I was here, I was travelling, and didn’t do anything … Continue reading

October 1-7 is the National Day holiday, which of course means no classes. I like the idea of not having classes, but I am not a fan of how it is designed. I am not saying it is wrong, but I don’t like the design.
– We have a 7 day holiday (Yay!), it is how it is presented.
– It is of course a 5 day holiday, because 2 of those days are already my weekend (5 days is good).
– Because of the holiday, there are extra class days on Sunday Sept. 21, 28, and Oct 12, creating 3 weeks with 6 days of classes, instead of 5 (leaving 2 days of holiday after the 3 payback days)
Given the choice, I would far rather have just 2 days of holiday, and my weekends be left alone.
However, it is what it is. I will enjoy my time off, and try not to think about the 6 days of classes each week for 3 weeks. Get some reading done, bake, cook some BBQ sauces, and maybe take a day trip to the big city. It will not be a wasted week :).
